The Clear Lake Community School District is searching for a dynamic and highly motivated educational leader to serve as our next middle school principal. The Clear Lake school system serves over 1300 students in the community of Clear Lake. Located on Interstate 35, just 90 minutes north of the Des Moines area and two hours south of Minneapolis. The school district has the ability to offer everything students want and need, but still has the small town feel and commitment to our students, families, and community members. Clear Lake also has the unique opportunity of being on a beautiful lake. Clear Lake is in the third year of implementing the Iowa Teacher Leadership & Compensation (TLC) system, and remains committed to the core belief that all students can and will learn at high levels. Clear Lake believes strongly in the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) process and is also committed to the continued growth of STEM/PLTW programs at all levels. Ideal candidates will have a strong knowledge in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the PLC process. Candidates must also be highly collaborative and demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. This position would be responsible for the instructional leadership of 310 middle school students (grades 6-8) and over 30 staff members. The new principal must be supportive of learning environments that foster engagement with the curriculum through inquiry, creativity, and a continual focus on developing the whole child. Successful leadership experience at the building or teacher leader level is preferred. All candidates must be eligible for principal licensure in the state of Iowa.
